My Little Pony toy range was first produced in the early 1980's and followed on from a similar toy called 'My Pretty Pony', that was introduced in 1982. 'My Little Pony' toys were one of the most collectible toys of the 80's. The original series of 'My Little Pony' toys were a collection of six colored toy ponies with bright colored brushable manes and tails. Their names were 'Snuzzle', 'Cotton Candy', 'Blossom', Butterscotch', 'Minty' and 'Blue Belle' and each one was cute, lovable and very popular with little girls everywhere. These lovable toy characters inspired the creation of other 'My Little Pony' toys that came in a range of sizes and colors, with bright or multi-colored manes and tails, with some having glittery symbols and sparkling bodies as well as other interesting features. A range of animated films and television programs about the little toy ponies were also produced which added further interest to the increasing popularity of these cute toy characters. Following a quiet period of 'My Little Pony' activities in 1992 they arose in popularity again during the latter period of the 1990's and again only a few years ago. Each line of new 'My Little Ponies' has received a new image, although retaining the important features of the original series of 'My Little Pony'. The toys are currently making a successful comeback following on from their popularity as one of the most collectible toys of the 1980's.
